Boat Description
Hello and welcome aboard Lion Turtle!
Just had a major $20k solar upgrade. A new solar array was added with 6x 530W panels totaling 3180W. The panels are bifacial so they can make power off the sun reflecting off of the water or the boat to the underside of the panels.
S/V Lion Turtle is a 2009 Admiral 40 Executive catamaran, owners version, for sale by owner. She is one of the last of her kind ever built. I am the third owner and she has never been chartered.
Evolving from the hugely popular and successful Admiral 38, the Admiral 40 boasts substantially increased internal volume, headroom and convenient and functional flat decks. Her increased forward vision, wider hulls, luxurious interior make for a comfort and functionality level that is unsurpassed and ready to take you anywhere in the world. 2007 Boat of the Year at the Cape Town boat show.
A mast height of 63.5 FT allows for bridge clearance on the ICW for those occasional times when the crew is not interested in the roughest of seas. In the spacious cockpit, the helmsman’s station and comfortable double bench are to starboard and are well protected from spray peeling off the bows at higher speeds. These boats have the ability to handle long passages and ocean crossings in safely and comfortably.
Celtic Yachts bought the molds and rights to manufacture the Admiral 38 and 40 in 2011. The new owner, Tim Duncan, has had a life-long interest in sailing and mucking about in boats. In 2001, he purchased an Admiral 38 hull, deck and bulkheads from then Admiral Yachts and fulfilling a lifelong dream, launched Songbird in 2001. Since then Tim continues to be inspired to build solid, beautiful boats. While completing Songbird, Tim saw the opportunity to build quality interiors for boats. This earned him a reputation for producing excellent workmanship and service within the yachting industry.
The Admiral Executive was one of the best custom/production catamarans ever imagined. The concept was to build a top tier fully custom equipped boat instead of building a base luxury catamaran and add options.
Lion Turtle is probably the most unique of the series. The boat was upgraded even above the factory specifications with the help of the designer Angelo Lavaranos. The transoms were extended over 3 feet to compensate for extra weight and make a fast more stable catamaran. The keels were lengthened and enlarged to improve the performance of the original, rather small keels, and the rudders were modified to improve balance. She points exceptionally well.
I am currently at anchor in South Florida.
