Captain Jim Kozar is a USCG licensed master captain, PADI certified rescue diver, former fine dining General Manager and a heck of a nice guy. Growing up in southern California's surf culture, he has lived all over the world- from New Zealand to Newport and understands the art of travel like few do. His first long-term yacht crew position was on an 85 foot ketch, sailing from California to Rhode Island via the Panama Canal. He gained extensive knowledge of the Caribbean by delivering and wintering sailboats from Florida all the way down-island to Grenada and points in between. After running Chart House restaurants for years including the St. Croix, St. Thomas and Puerto Rico locations, he settled in St. Thomas as General Manager and bought his first boat, Jester. His Virgin Islands restaurant career also included a stint as the food and beverage director at the famous Bitter End Yacht Club in Virgin Gorda. He parleyed his knack for entertaining and cooking, and 35 plus years of sailing experience into a very successful day sail business that he ran for the 15 years. He takes pride in the number of repeat guests that routinely come back for his outstanding skills and personality.
First Mate and Chef Holli Dowless is a lifetime mariner with roots in NC. Growing up in Wrightsville Beach NC, she began operating boats at an early age of 7. Living on a boat and acclimating to marina life, Holli developed a love for mariners that eventually began an ownership of Marine Assist Sea Tow franchises. Being a USCG certified Captain as well, the love of people grew into a career as a nurse. Holli began incorporating efforts on the water and her passion for trauma care and became a Trauma Director in NC. Her efforts in NC built out the nation’s first civilian based field hospitals that have been deployed all over the world to this day. Trading in the the "Board" room for the "Surf Board" room, Holli returned to the sea for her love of boats and boards. She spends her time on surf boards, skateboards, and wake boards. As First Mate and Chef she will incorporate her southern ease and energy to insure customers have the most fun on the seas.
