OWNERS JUST BOUGHT ANOTHER LARGER BOAT TO ACCOMMODATE LARGER FAMILY
S/V Luciernaga is a beautiful, well-cared-for 1984 Irwin 41 center cockpit ketch. Built by American designer and boat builder Ted Irwin at Irwin Yachts near St. Petersburg, Florida, these popular blue-water vessels were made with a moderate displacement hull of 25,000 lbs, a long keel, and a ballast/displacement ratio of 32 percent. The current owners have been sailing S/V Luciernaga for the last 8 years throughout Central America and the Caribbean. They recently returned to the Rio Dulce, Guatemala to look for a larger vessel to accommodate a larger family.
Interior Features
This Irwin 41 CC has a comfortable, well-laid-out interior with a 13 ft beam and 6.2 ft headroom. The teak cabinetry and trim throughout are in nice condition. This is a 2-cabin layout with 2 heads, each with a shower and marine toilet. There is a walkthrough to the large main aft cabin with a completely private head. The galley is located in the starboard corner. The salon is spacious with ample seating; the L-shaped settee has a solid wood table and there is a straight single settee across. The second head and another comfortable double v-berth are located forward. This vessel is also equipped with air conditioning for extra comfort on hot days.
Engine and Sailing Features
S/V Luciernaga is powered by a well-maintained Perkins engine that was rebuilt in 2018 and currently shows approximately 2,800 hours. All sails and sail-handling systems are in good condition. The vessel is set up for easy sail handling and carries appropriate navigation equipment for offshore cruising.
Upgrades and Maintenance
This vessel has been outfitted to go cruising now, and many upgrades have been made while systems have been regularly maintained. Electrical and tank systems have been upgraded, and the anti-fouling paint was newly applied in December 2024.
S/V Luciernaga is a proven, reliable, comfortable blue-water cruiser and is ready to sail away now!
