Lagoon - Sailing 4 Handicaps: an incredible adventure gets underway!

In March we told you about the incredible adventure being undertaken by Elena and Wojtek (see News here).

On 30 May, the couple, both athletes, set out aboard their Lagoon 410 S2, Imagine, to reach out to people with disabilities.

Wojtek lost his left leg following a sports accident, and now has a prosthetic limb. Aiming to help people who have no access to medical care, and especially people who need an orthopaedic prosthesis, the couple have started out on a rather unusual round-the-world trip set to last four years.

Their boat, which has undergone some alterations for the occasion, has a treatment bay where medical practitioners involved in the operation can hold consultations in good conditions. The prosthetic implants will be made on board the boat using a 3D printer.

After leaving Neustadt in Holstein (Germany), they stopped off in La Rochelle until 2 August. This stopover has been something of a homecoming for the boat which, built at the Lagoon workshops, was first launched here in La Rochelle.

They will now head towards Morocco, to their first port of call where appointments have already been made to meet with patients and healthcare professionals.

Lagoon wishes Wojtek and Elena fair winds and the best of luck on their incredible journey!
