Boat Description

Now available: 2007 St. Francis 50 Atlas.

See this yacht at the Annapolis Boat Show in October. Currently en route from New England.

Atlas is a beautifully maintained, superbly equipped, and proven example of the renowned St. Francis 50, one of the most respected bluewater cruising catamarans ever built.

Canadian-flagged and duty-paid in New Zealand, Atlas has sailed over 25,000 nautical miles in the last three years and is fully outfitted for long-range, off-grid voyaging. Her current owners, an experienced cruising family, have sailed her across the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, from New Zealand to Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. She’s a true global cruiser with a track record to match, and now she’s ready for her next owners and her next adventure.

Built in 2007 by St. Francis Marine in South Africa, the St. Francis 50 was awarded Cruising World’s Cruising Catamaran of the Year for its blend of strength, performance, and livability. The model is still in production today as the St. Francis 500, using the same original hull mold, testament to its enduring design and seaworthiness.

Atlas features a 4-cabin, 3-head, galley-down layout finished in elegant cherry wood, which was fully refinished in 2019. Like all St. Francis 50s, she’s a semi-custom build constructed using vacuum-infused epoxy resin and Corecell foam core, with CE Category A (Ocean) certification. The build quality, attention to detail, and structural integrity set her apart from production catamarans in this size range.

Designed for offshore sailing, the St. Francis 50 offers excellent upwind sailing ability, a comfortable motion at sea, and fast, efficient passagemaking thanks to her long waterline, high bridgedeck clearance, and thoughtful weight distribution. The engines and saildrives are positioned well forward, keeping the bows light and weight centralized — factors that enhance both performance and comfort offshore.

Atlas boasts high tankage, vast storage, and a protected center-cockpit helm that is ideal for shorthanded sailing. Her systems and layout are optimized for autonomy and comfort, whether on passage or at anchor.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a turnkey, beautifully maintained, ocean-ready catamaran with a stellar cruising history and all the systems in place for serious voyaging. She’s ideal for a cruising couple or family looking to explore local waters, the Caribbean, or set off on a global adventure. If you’re looking for a safe, proven, and well-built vessel that performs offshore and lives well on anchor, you owe it to yourself to consider Atlas.
