S/V Rainbow’s End is now on the market!   She is a very unique  upgraded vessel, there is none like it!  This 1992 Owners Version Escale  39’ custom Prout was built in South Africa by the owner of Prout  Boats.  The Prout Escale has a solid reputation as a reliable and  seaworthy liveaboard for offshore cruising.   Prouts were reputedly the  first and for many years the only catamarans that met Lloyd’s of London  standards.  This particular vessel has many different features than the  typical production models such as the stern configuration with the  upsized davits, bolted on steps, ladder and folding swim platform which  allows for even more interior storage than similar models.

This  vessel has been built for long term cruising and is set up for easy  single-handed sailing, control is easily accessible at the helm.   S/V  Rainbow’s End holds  240 gallons of fresh water in 2 tanks,  and 200  gallons of diesel in 6 built-in tanks.   She is equipped with 560 watts  of solar and 2 SW Windpower wind generators,  26amps each,  an Aims  power inverter for 110v and 220v.  There is also a Kohler 13 kW  3-cylinder diesel generator with only testing hours on it.  This vessel  has been set up with both 110v and  230v outlets throughout and the  ability to plug in both 30-amp and 50-amp shore power.

S/V  Rainbow’s End is powered by 2 Volvo Penta 2000 series  29hp diesel  engines that are raw water cooled.   Engines were rebuilt in 2009 with  405 and 490 hours.  The sails are in good condition:   the Mainsail has  in mast furling, the headsail is a brand new Gennaker 165 on roller  furling,  the Staysail is an extra heavy storm sail like new condition,  and the Spinnaker is with an adjustable pole that hanks onto a track in  the mast.  There is no shortage of electronics on board such as:   a  Garmin 4212 multifunction display with 12-inch screen new 2023, Garmin  radar,  Raymarine Smart Pilot ST 7002,  Raymarine DS500X Depth/Fish  finder,  Raymarine Wind indicator,  Compass,  and 6 VHF radios.  There  is also a Ubiquity Titanium Bullet antenna for wireless and cellular  with a 65-mile range going up the mast.

On the interior  and exterior there is an enormous amount of storage.  The beautiful teak  interior with teak and holly floors throughout is spacious with 6’2” of  headroom and a comfortable layout.   This layout has  2  separate  sleeping cabins with  2 separate heads with showers,  the portside also  has a bathtub.  The galley is equipped with a  2-burner propane stove  with oven, two facets for the double sinks  (1 for saltwater and 1 fresh  water) and a water filtration system.   There is a  Pur water maker.   There is a separate built-in freezer that runs on  230v  as well as a 12v  refrigerator with new  2” insulation.   For more comfort there are also  2  Marine Ocean Breeze air conditioners on board.  All the upholstery is hand woven Mayan depicting customary fabric patterns from upland villages.  Also the salon table is unique with fold-out leaves and storage underneath.

S/V  Rainbow’s End has been given many special upgrades such as:   a custom  fiberglass dodger, cockpit enclosure (custom hard top with Isinglass  inserts) with rainwater catchment drains above the water tank fills,  and a full boat storage cover only 10mths old.  The deck has been  upgraded, (balsa core removed and upgraded with Nydacore), there is  absolutely no soft spots on the deck,  the deck by the windlass is solid  fiberglass with epoxy.
