Boat Description

What If is hull #7 of the well-regarded Manta catamaran family and benefits from an active, knowledgeable owners group. This well-loved, meticulously maintained vessel has been a full-time liveaboard of the current owners since 2014 and previous owners since 2010 and is comprehensively outfitted for extended cruising. The current owners have taken her from Key West to Massachusetts and made numerous passages throughout the Bahamas. Onboard systems include substantial solar generation and modern lithium battery capacity to support comfortable, independent living offshore. A detailed maintenance log, current inspections, a significant inventory of critical spares and up-to-date safety equipment mean What If is prepared to take her next owners wherever they want to explore.

Manta Catamarans are built to be ocean-capable with minimal maintenance. The hull, deck and structural bulkheads are constructed using triaxial, biaxial and unidirectional stitched fiberglass laminates with vinylester and isophthalic resins over Nida (polypropylene honeycomb) core, all vacuum-bagged for enhanced stiffness, strength and reduced weight. The hull-to-deck joint is both chemically bonded and mechanically fastened for integrity. Collision bulkheads create watertight bow compartments, deck hardware is backed by aluminum reinforcement plates molded into the layup, and the hulls incorporate twin fiberglass fin keels. Steering is provided by twin high-density foam/fiberglass rudders on 2″ diameter solid stainless steel shafts, engineered for offshore reliability.

The Manta 38 shares the design lineage that was later extended in the Manta 40 with both built by Endeavour in Clearwater, Florida. What If represents the practical, seaworthy characteristics that make the Manta series attractive to serious cruisers: robust construction, thoughtful systems integration and liveaboard-friendly accommodations.

For a detailed inventory, equipment list, maintenance log and to schedule a survey or sea trial, please contact the seller. Technical questions and requests for system-by-system documentation are welcome—What If is offered ready for immediate cruising or further customization to your cruising plans.
