Originally commissioned as the personal yacht of the West Coast Lagoon dealer (Naos Yachts), Clapotis was never chartered and lightly used seasonally between California and Mexico. In 2019, the current owners purchased her in Marina del Rey, California, and brought her to their homeport in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico, where she has been used for 6–7 short cruising trips per year.
