Introducing S/V Forquilla, a beautifully refitted Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45.2, completely restored in 2023–2024 and meticulously prepared for long voyages. These vessels were designed by Philippe Briand and the Jeanneau Design Team and built by Jeanneau in France from 1997 to 2003. Known for their high-quality construction and luxurious accommodations, the Sun Odyssey 45.2 offers the best of both worlds: a proven, seaworthy vessel without sacrificing creature comforts.
S/V Forquilla has been the cherished home of a Spanish family for the past five years, during which they have navigated the globe, including a memorable Atlantic crossing in 2024. They have documented their journey on social media as @velero_forquilla, showcasing the boat’s adventures and their lifestyle on the open water. With the arrival of their second child, they have made the bittersweet decision to pass on this beloved sailboat to a new owner who will continue to nurture her spirit and keep the dream of adventure alive.
This beautiful, spacious Jeanneau Sun Odyssey features a stunning teak interior in immaculate condition. The three-cabin, two-head layout includes a double owner’s cabin in the bow with an en-suite head and two cabins in the stern, with the second head located next to the galley; both heads are equipped with a shower and marine toilet. All double berths have breathable mattresses and premium pillows for comfort. There is a folding bed system in the bow cabin to maximize storage. In the salon the main table is on hydraulic legs with custom cushions that convert the central space into a large bed for extra guests. The galley offers ample counter space with large double sinks, a chest-style fridge and freezer with thermostat, and an induction cooktop and electric oven for safety. For extra comfort there are two air conditioning units, one serving the bow and main cabin and the other serving the stern cabins.
S/V Forquilla is powered by a well-maintained Yanmar diesel engine. The mast is the tall-rig version and the standing rigging was comprehensively renewed during the refit. The vessel is equipped for offshore sailing with updated sails and a removable baby stay.
The current owners installed extensive systems to support extended cruising, improving the boat’s autonomy and reliability for long passages. Many upgrades were completed during the refit to enhance energy generation, propulsion options, watermaking, and communications.
The refit also included new bronze thru-hulls and bottom valves, and a detailed inventory and a comprehensive list of upgrades completed during the refit are available.
S/V Forquilla is currently stored on the hard in Río Dulce, Guatemala, recognized as one of the safest hurricane shelters in the Caribbean. The boat is meticulously maintained under full cover, kept dehumidified, and is checked monthly by a trusted local caretaker.
S/V Forquilla is more than just a sailboat; it is an invitation to explore the world, create unforgettable memories, and embrace the freedom of the sea. If you are ready to embark on new adventures, S/V Forquilla is waiting for you to continue her legacy!
