The Voyage 440 catamaran stands as one of the most sought-after models for cruising enthusiasts, and this particular vessel features the very desirable 3-cabin / 2-head owner’s version layout. Over the past five years, it has served as a comfortable and reliable home for a young family navigating the East Coast and exploring the Caribbean. Renowned for its rugged construction, thoughtful engineering, ease of maintenance, and impressive sailing performance, the Voyage 440 is equally suited for liveaboard adventures or bluewater passagemaking.
The Voyage 440 model achieved significant acclaim, winning Cruising World’s “Boat of the Year” and “Best Cruising Multihull” awards in 2002—becoming the first multihull to ever claim the overall Sailboat of the Year title. Judges especially recognized the harmonious blend of performance, build quality, and meticulous attention to detail that defines this catamaran as a benchmark in the world of bluewater cruising yachts.
While Voyage Yachts initially anticipated that the 4-cabin charter version would dominate sales, discerning sailors turned instead to the owner’s layouts between 2001 and 2004. These owner’s versions quickly earned a reputation for setting a high standard in comfort and functionality, making them highly coveted and often cherished by only one or two owners since new.
Vessel Walkthrough (3 Cabin / 2 Head)
Each cabin is thoughtfully appointed with extensive storage, including generous hanging lockers, shelved cabinets, and under-seat compartments—perfect for organizing extended voyages. The starboard hull presents an owner’s suite with a private stall shower, separate hand basin, and a spacious queen berth enhanced by ample lockers, cabinets, and reading lights. A desk adds versatility amidships, while cabin lighting and towel rails increase comfort.
In the port hull, the forward queen berth features a latex mattress, complemented by a full berth aft. The centrally located head unit, accessible from both forward and aft doors, incorporates a hand-held shower, while hanging lockers, cabinets, and a bookshelf at the stairwell offer both convenience and utility.
The expansive salon includes a bar or breakfast counter with stool, an L-shaped seating area with new (2021) gray Alcantara upholstery, and full standing headroom (1.9m/6’3″). Clever storage is integrated into the salon seating, and the adjustable table adapts for both dining and socializing.
Additional features include a pilot berth in the starboard hull, outboard of the helm—a generous long single bed with foam mattress, overhead lighting, and fan, accessible from a deck hatch or the starboard head. When not needed as a berth, this space transforms into substantial dry storage. The vessel also boasts a dedicated navigation station in the aft salon, complete with an AC/DC electrical panel for systems control, and a stool that serves both the nav station and additional dining or seating needs.
