Boat Description

S/V Crazy Love is Hull #9 of the Seawind 1600 Passage Maker model. This version has a wider and longer hull than the earlier Seawind models.

She was commissioned in south Florida in the Spring of 2022 for the original owner. She was sailed sparingly in the Spring of 2022 and was returned to Annapolis late spring. She was, stored out of the water there until late fall. Then she was sailed for three months the winter of 2023 after which, she was returned to Annapolis in March of 2023 where, she was again, stored out of the water.

In the Spring of 2023, we were looking for a boat in the 50’ range. We contacted the original owner to see if it would be possible to look at their Seawind to see if this was a boat/brand we would consider buying. We owned a Catana 42 and were looking for a bigger newer platform with similar performance attributes to the Catana.

I have a sailmaking/pro sailing/race boat project management background and was looking for a boat with both performance and live aboard comfort that a boat of this type would provide.

We bought the boat in late July of 2023. We took the boat to New England and then cruised the boat to the Bahamas the winter of 2024. We returned to the USA where we stored it out of the water the summer of 2024. In the winter of 2025 we cruised the boat throughout the Bahamas. We returned to the USA in the Spring of 2025 and cruised New England for the summer. The boat is now in Annapolis, has just been hauled out to get her annual bottom paint and engine service done.

The boat lacks for nothing in terms of equipment and shows in excellent condition. The electronics have been upgraded to H 5000 and are calibrated, the autopilot has been upgraded to H 5000 and the unit is a type 3 in lieu of a type 2, the sail inventory has been upgraded with an extra custom spinnaker on a top down furler that actually works! The running rigging has been modified to work properly for a double handed couple. The boat has proper sun shades and bug screens, all the things you want to have to go cruising in comfort and to get there faster and easier than most any boat you can sail in the 50’ range.  The construction on this boat is excellent, tons of carbon in all the right places, it is extremely stiff torsionally. I have had the opportunity to sail this boat in pretty much every condition and wind angle, I can say this boat will take you anywhere safely and at times faster than you want to go! When you line it up with the other boats in the 50′ range, the Outremer 52 and the Balance 526 are two that we have sailed with,  you will be very happy with the performance. The last thing that sets this apart from the other boats in this range are the steering stations, they are nicely tucked in partially under the Bimini. You can get out of or into the sun and weather with a 360 degree view and you are in the cockpit for all the sail controls. This in my opinion after sailing on most all the other boats in this range is my prefered setup.

The boat just had her annual haul out for bottom paint, engine and saildrive maintenance, she is ready to head south for the winter.
