This Passport 40 is a beautifully maintained boat and a proven world cruiser in excellent condition with many upgrades. Her two comfortable cabins include a V-berth owner’s cabin. Her teak and holly flooring with teak cabinetry are beautifully paired to create a warm, comfortable feeling in her spacious salon. A well-equipped galley aft of the U-shaped dining area and settee allows for an open feeling.
Thanks to its displacement relative to size, deep forefoot that transitions into a cruising fin keel, skeg-hung rudder, and solid construction, this yacht has a comfortable motion in waves. It’s not a racing machine, but for many cruising sailors that is exactly the point.
This boat is virtually ready to go, well kept, and won’t be on the market long. She has had many of the improvements necessary: teak decks removed, lead ballast removed, bottom peeled and epoxy barrier coat in 2012 with new bottom paint in December 2024. Her newer rigging, complete with new chain plates, is an added bonus.
Engines
The engine was rebuilt in 2019 with work including injectors, motor mounts, valve guides, rings, heat exchanger, and rear seal.

Hull
White superstructure and decks; GRP was completely repainted after the teak decks were removed. The yacht features a skeg-hung rudder with a long fin cruising keel and wheel steering. The aft cockpit has an excellent bimini added in 2020. Antifouling and anodes were replaced in December 2024 in Panama. Stainless opening ports all have rain shields, thru-hulls were replaced, and the bottom was peeled and coated with an epoxy barrier in 2012 followed by new bottom paint in December 2024. Teak decks were removed and iron pellets used for ballast were taken out.
Rig and Sails
New rigging was installed in 2020 and chain plates have been removed and replaced. The sail handling layout is arranged for easy operation from the cockpit.
Deck Gear and Anchoring
Deck gear and anchoring systems have been maintained and are functional for cruising use.

To port, the well-appointed galley is thoughtfully laid out for use underway or at anchor.
Forward, the private V-berth cabin includes generous storage and a solid teak privacy door. A full head with a separate shower stall provides the comfort of home on longer passages.
Aft to starboard, the private aft cabin offers a cozy retreat with its own teak door for complete privacy.
The galley is U-shaped with tile countertops, a gimballed oven and hob in good working order, and refrigeration and freezer capacity. The navigation station has a full-size chart table and a tidy, labeled electrical panel, and navigation equipment is installed.
Forward Cabin
The forward cabin has a V-berth with ample storage cupboards and shelves, a hanging wardrobe, a solid teak privacy door, a hatch above, and opening ports.
Aft Cabin
The aft cabin has a three-quarter-size bed, a hanging locker, teak shelving, drawers under the bed, and ventilation windows.
