Boat Description

The Lagoon 420 Owner Version is a spacious, well-proportioned cruising catamaran that blends practical systems with comfortable liveaboard accommodations. The raised helm provides near-360° visibility—a critical advantage for safe maneuvering and passage making that many multihulls lack—while the hard bimini offers solid protection from sun and spray without restricting airflow. The cockpit sits slightly below deck level and is designed for unobstructed movement around the perimeter, creating a secure, sociable area for day-to-day use and entertaining.

Access between the cockpit and saloon is generous: wide sliding doors fold away to create an expansive indoor/outdoor living space. The aft galley, arranged in an efficient L-shape, overlooks the cockpit so the cook remains part of the action and serving is effortless. The galley provides abundant counter area, large double sinks and thoughtful storage. The saloon features a high-back L-shaped settee oriented to the stern view; the dining table converts to an extra double berth and the adjacent bench seat lifts for ample stowage.

The dedicated owner’s cabin is located to port and benefits from a sliding privacy door, an island-style queen berth with access from both sides, drawer storage beneath and a walk-through dressing area with additional lockers, a settee and a desk. The en suite head includes a separate shower stall and generous headroom. On starboard there are two guest cabins, each with island-style berths accessible from both sides. One aft guest cabin has a fore-and-aft berth with a separate shower and the forward starboard cabin features a sideways berth with a fully separate shower compartment—an arrangement that works particularly well for couples.

Practical systems and deck access are well considered: wide stern platforms provide safe transfer to a dinghy and direct access to the engine compartments from the cockpit level, avoiding the inconvenience of reaching engines from under berths. Handholds are strategically placed for secure movement around the decks and the hard bimini makes short work of tucking sails after anchoring.

Panoramic windows and an elevated nav station forward allow comfortable, dry night watches and excellent visual monitoring in all conditions. Overall, the Lagoon 420 Owner Version is engineered for comfortable family living and effortless cruising—offering volume, visibility and ease of use in a proven catamaran layout.

Bon Vivant – 2008 Lagoon 420
In March of 2023 we purchased Bon Vivant, our 2008 Lagoon 420 Owner’s Version, to sail the Caribbean, a bucket list dream of ours. We selected the 2008 Lagoon 420 specifically because of her comfort, roominess and combination hard topped Helm Station/Cockpit/Salon configuration. After one year of thoroughly retrofitting Bon Vivant from bow to stern we headed east and south from Ft. Pierce, FL on our journey. And what a wonderful journey it was. We spent almost two years at sea on Bon Vivant traveling along the Caribbean Islands starting in the Bahamas and heading south through Turks and Caicos to Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and the US and British Virgin Islands. From there we traveled along all of the Windward and Leeward islands enjoying the beauty and friendliness of the different islands. It was a dream come true. After reaching Trinidad and Tobago we pulled Bon Vivant out of the water, replaced both Yanmar 3JH40 engines, one SD-60 saildrive (the other had been replaced before we left Florida) and added some new creature comfort features. After launching her again and sailing north up the Leeward and Windward islands we took our time revisiting some of the islands and visiting different islands along the way. Bon Vivant is a wonderful live aboard and an easy cruising sailing yacht. We spent many weeks with the full sails aloft and the trade winds on our beam while cruising through the pristine Caribbean waters. She is a very sturdy and fun yacht to sail. It was a journey of a lifetime that we will always remember. After almost two years at sea traveling over 4,500 nautical miles on Bon Vivant we came to the end of our lifetime goal and returned to Ft. Pierce, FL for our next journey of traveling throughout the United States on land. Bon Vivant is a very comfortable, solid and well constructed sailing yacht with all the comforts of home in an easily maintainable and operable configuration. She is looking forward to her next adventurous owners to take her to some new destinations.
