Boat Description
Very well optioned 2013 Lagoon 400 S2 in rare 3 cabin/2 head Owners version (Hull 336) available for sale in the Mediterranean. While Zoe was built by Lagoon in 2013 she is a 2014 model year which means she has the improved Yanmar SD60 saildrives from the factory versus earlier 2013 builds with the SD50.
Delivered from Lagoon with the Comfort pack (the highest option level with air conditioning, generator, watermaker, upgraded engines, electric winches, electric heads, etc) and extensively upgraded and maintained for a high level of off grid livability and reliability. Zoe will provide for luxurious and safe cruising for a couple or a small family.
Zoe has been owned since 2018 by an American based couple who have sailed her in the coastal Mediterranean for seven summers then stored on land for winter and kept in top shape to be ready for another season of stress free sailing. Zoe was delivered new from the factory to Singapore by cargo ship to her first owner for exploring Southeast Asia for three years, and her Australian second owner shipped her back by cargo ship to the Mediterranean where we purchased her as the third owners. As Zoe has not been owned by EU residents she is not VAT paid and is in the EU under Temporary Import, requiring an exit from EU waters (Tunisia, Montenegro, Turkey, etc) once per 18 months.
After seven years of ownership we have made the painful decision to sell Zoe to be closer to home in the United States due to family circumstances. Current owners will help the new ones with a smooth transition by giving a complete run through of systems.
Zoe is well maintained with low engine hours (approx 1700 hours) and the Yanmar engine maintenance schedule followed for the upgraded 39HP 3JH5E main engines and her pair of SD60 sail drives with low drag Flex-o-fold folding props. There are two 200l (106 US Gallon) diesel fuel tanks that can give a motoring range of over 1000nm (running one engine at a time at 1800rpm).
The power system was professionally upgraded with all high quality Victron components that work seamlessly together. The system has a large lithium house battery bank charged by a 1200 watt solar panel array on a custom stainless steel davit. Combined with a 5 KVA Victron inverter she provides a “shore power at anchor” ease of off the grid living. An all electric galley (no worries about gas safety or finding propane refills) with new custom Corian counters for easy meal prep, a high output 150 l/h watermaker for guilt free showers and air conditioning (with reverse cycle heating) in each cabin and the salon ready for hot summer days. All systems (including A/C) can be run away from the dock off of the large battery bank, with a low hours (~1830) 7 KVA 220V Onan generator on standby with a Victron controlled remote auto start/stop for cloudy days. A custom installed Starlink is also ready to provide broadband internet anywhere in the Mediterranean – and beyond.
All bronze below waterline through hulls replaced with Trudesign composite in 2023. Saildrive hull boot gaskets and seals were replaced in 2023 . Coppercoat on her hulls (along with an ultrasonic antifouling system) makes for easy maintenance of anti fouling – no yearly haulout is needed just to re-apply expensive antifoul paint.
Zoe has a sail plan that enables her to sail well on most points of sail. This includes:
- High power squaretop Mainsail: This is the original fully battened Incidence Dacron mainsail with 3 reefing points, the first two being single line (led to the helm) and the third requiring clipping on at the tack. Sail is stored in custom UV protective sailbag (new 2018) on the boom.
- Genoa: This is the original Incidence Dacron furling Genoa (with UV strip) on a Facnor furler (new 2024).
- Gennaker: 70 sq meter gennaker from SAS Technique Voile (new in 2017) on a Facnor FX 2500+ continuous line furler and attached to the bow sprit with a dedicated halyard. It is a fantastic sail for light winds from approximately 60 AWA to 160 AWA. It comes with a UV protected deck bag so when not in use, it can be dropped and stored in the deck bag on the trampoline or in the forepeak.
- All sails were removed for inspection and service in February 2024 and were deemed to be in good condition apart from a couple of minor repairs (since completed). Having spent so many years in the sailbag due to fickle winds in the Med (or removed and stored for winter) the sails have been lightly used.
- Zoe provides for easy single handed sailing as halyards, sheets and reefing lines are led to the helm and are controlled by 3 Harken 46 two speed electric winches plus an additional two speed gennaker sheet winch on the starboard side.
- As part of our preparations for our Atlantic crossing, we replaced standing rigging in April 2024 at Port Navy Service in Port St Louis du Rhone. This included the shrouds and top and bottom diamonds. We have also replaced the main halyard, swapping out the original halyard for a dyneema core halyard with custom end splice. We also replaced the topping lift, Genoa sheets, lazy jack lines, and mainsheet. A mast tricolor was added per ARC crossing requirements, which includes a switch selectable solar timed anchor light or distress strobe.
A large refit was completed in 2024 with new Z-SPAR standing rigging to factory specification, sail inspection and repair, new headsail furler, new custom Corian counters in the galley, Starlink on dedicated inverter, new underwater lights, new 20 hp Honda electric start dinghy motor for the Highfield CL340 dinghy, new custom dinghy UV chaps, new and improved cockpit cushions, salon windows resealed and many other items addressed to make sure she was ready for many more years of cruising but with an unforeseen change in plans she is ready for her new owners to explore new horizons.
S/Y Zoe is United States Coast Guard documented (title in hand and free of liens) and US flagged with a home port of Phoenix, Arizona. Insurance renewal survey from 2022 available upon request.
Currently in the Tropea area of Italy and transitioning over the coming months to a reserved winter storage location on land in Bari, Italy.
