Boat Description

The 1989 Island Packet 35 is a distinguished blue-water cruiser that exemplifies the perfect blend of performance, comfort, and durability. Known for its exceptional shallow draft and full-keel stability, this model is highly regarded among cruising sailors who desire a vessel that can handle various marine environments with ease. This particular yacht has been meticulously maintained and boasts an impressive cruising history, making it a fantastic option for those looking to embark on new adventures. She is currently located in beautiful Panama, ready to set sail.

This Island Packet 35 features a unique optional centerboard design that enhances its versatility. With a draft of 7’2” when the board is down, it offers outstanding tracking and stability, making it ideal for open water cruising. When the centerboard is retracted, the draft reduces to an impressive +/- 3’8”, allowing you to explore shallower waters and hidden coves that many larger vessels cannot access. This makes the Island Packet 35 an exceptional choice for sailors who prioritize both coastal exploration and blue-water capability.

This Island Packet 35 not only excels in performance but also ensures liveaboard comfort. The interior layout is thoughtfully designed, providing ample space for relaxation and storage. The rugged construction of the boat allows for peace of mind during long passages, knowing you are aboard a vessel built to withstand the challenges of the sea.

Whether you are an experienced sailor seeking your next long-distance cruising companion or a novice looking for a reliable vessel to explore the Caribbean’s enchanting waters, the Island Packet 35 stands out as a remarkable choice. With its combination of shallow draft versatility, exceptional stability, and comfortable living space, this yacht is ready to take you on unforgettable journeys.

Below is just a fraction of what you will find aboard this cruiser. Ask us for a complete detail sheet and a link to more photos.

Saloon

Notable for its generous beam and warm teak joinery, the interior offers a roomy saloon, a large galley, and comfortable cabins — unusually spacious for a 35-footer.

The salon features a teak and holly sole, a beige upholstered settee to starboard with a table, and a settee to port. There is a wood storage cupboard to starboard forward with a louvered door and shelf, sliding doors behind the settees, and a nav desk to port aft of the port side settee with the electrical panel and electronics. On the forward bulkhead is a bookshelf and decorative oil lights.

The galley is to starboard and features a double stainless sink at centerline, a top-loading storage locker, a three-burner propane stove/oven with a removable wooden top, and a double top-loading fridge/freezer combination with the compressor located in the aft sail locker in the cockpit. Aft of the galley is shallow counter space and wooden storage for dishes. The wood is in very good condition.

The head is forward of the bulkhead and includes a Jabsco head, a stainless round sink, and a separated showering area.

The v-berth is forward with access to the anchor locker and tankage underneath. There is teak shelving around access to the bilge, two wooden capped drawers and two louvered cupboards, a ventilation fan, a 12V light, a 110V plug, a teak shelf and a cupboard below a sliding cupboard door above. A folding teak access door leads to the saloon, and there is a door to the head between the saloon and the forward v-berth. A deck hatch above and stainless-surrounded opening ports are on either side of the cabin top.

The aft quarterberth is aft of the nav station on the port side with a folding wooden door opposite the galley. It has an opening ventilation port, wooden opening storage cupboards and a hanging locker, a bench seat in matching upholstery, and a teak-accented shelf along the length of the port side with a fishing rod and flag holder.
