S/V Vanishing Point
Hylas 57 — Next-Generation Systems Yacht
Vanishing Point was delivered approximately 18 months after Hull #2 arrived in the U.S., creating a rare opportunity: this yacht was completed after major design and systems advancements were identified, allowing her to leapfrog earlier boats in the series.
As a result, Vanishing Point has a full suite of next-generation systems, many of which later informed updates across the model line—but none executed to this level or scale.
Award-Winning Flagship
Vanishing Point is industry recognized at the highest level. It has received honors including Cruising World Magazine Boat of the Year (2022), Sailing World Magazine Best Systems Design (2022), Newport International Boat Show awards including Best Sailboat Over 40 Feet and Best Sailboat Overall, Taiwan Yacht of the Year (2021), and Taiwan Feature Yacht of the Year (2023).
These awards underscore what sets Vanishing Point apart: a rare combination of performance, innovation, execution, and real-world usability.
A True Systems Prototype — Not a Standard Production Boat
Advanced Power & Energy Independence
Vanishing Point features 900 amp-hours at 24 volts — the largest lithium bank in the Hylas 57 fleet — and a 2 kW solar array integrated into the hardtop and retractable soft top. The power architecture is designed for true off-grid cruising and silent operation and is capable of running the yacht’s air conditioning for more than 12 hours on battery alone. This system architecture fundamentally changes how the yacht is used, dramatically reducing generator runtime while increasing comfort, autonomy, and reliability.
Ultra-Efficient, Whisper-Quiet Climate Control
The air-conditioning system aboard Vanishing Point is a three-zone, marine inverter, variable-speed compressor system that is exceptionally efficient and notably quiet. It can operate overnight on battery power, with variable-speed technology reducing cycling and noise, and it is optimized for both tropical cruising and energy conservation.
ElectroSea ClearLine Protection
Unique to Vanishing Point is the ElectroSea ClearLine system connected to the air-conditioning raw water intake. This system generates chlorine from seawater, continuously cleaning the condenser and preventing biological fouling, which dramatically improves reliability and reduces maintenance in warm-water cruising grounds.
Hot Water & Mechanical Improvements
Vanishing Point is fitted with an 18-gallon Explorer Series water heater with dual electric elements (120V and 24V) and dual heat-exchanger loops that allow hot water production while running the engine or generator, making it more efficient and flexible than standard installations. Significant mechanical layout improvements were made based on lessons learned from earlier hulls, including relocating the water heater from under the aft berth to the engine room, redesigning the engine room for improved access and serviceability, and relocating the Airdry bilge system from the galley area to the engine room, greatly reducing onboard noise.
Electronics — Continuously Updated
The latest Raymarine equipment continues to provide upgrades, ensuring the yacht remains at the forefront of navigation technology. Electronics were upgraded within the last three months with current Raymarine software and hardware to maintain cutting-edge navigation and systems integration.
Signature Cockpit Enclosure & Weather Protection
Vanishing Point features a one-of-a-kind, owner-designed cockpit enclosure that blends seamlessly into the yacht’s architecture while delivering exceptional protection and ventilation. A polycarbonate retractable dodger mounted on a custom stainless-steel track includes a center polycarbonate panel that slides open for massive airflow, and the stainless track doubles as a robust cockpit handhold. The enclosure meticulously follows the lines of designer Bill Dixon so closely that it nearly disappears into the yacht’s profile.
A bespoke soft top supported by a carbon-fiber frame retracts and extends from the aft edge of the hardtop, providing full 360-degree cockpit protection underway or in inclement weather; the soft top can be fully retracted and stowed in under five minutes, allowing the cockpit to instantly transform for open-air sailing, entertaining, or stargazing on clear nights. This system offers a rare blend of elegance, engineering, and usability—unmatched in the fleet.
