Boat Description
Ostinato III was expertly designed and constructed in South Africa, the Island Spirit 401 has earned a sterling reputation for its durability, comfort, and offshore performance. Sail Magazine awarded the 2005 Island Spirit 401 as one of their top ten best boats of the year, noting its “solid construction, simple and robust systems, accessible design, safe and efficient sail handling, roomy interior, sensible price, and reliable sailing performance.”
Ostinato III has been lovingly maintained by her second owners since 2007, and has never been chartered. From 2012 until 2022, she served as a comfortable and generous liveaboard, making her equally suitable for extended cruising or entertaining guests. With proven bluewater credentials, Ostinato III has successfully completed two Atlantic crossings and is fully equipped for a range of climates, from the cold waters of Norway to the sun-drenched Mediterranean. Notably, this vessel is among a select few to have voyaged the adventurous route from Amsterdam to Istanbul, navigating the Rhine, Main, and Danube.
It has a modified 4-cabin layout with the port forward birth converted into a workshop/laundry room that can be quickly returned to sleeping area should her new owner desire (see photos).
Recently fully refurbished and ready to sail, Ostinato III is a rare opportunity to own a well-cared-for, performance-oriented cruising catamaran with an impressive voyaging history. She invites new owners to embark on further adventures, whether exploring local waters or setting sights on distant shores.
