Introducing S/V Amazing! This 2004 Catana 471 Ocean Class catamaran was designed by Christophe Barreau and built by Catana in France. There were just under 90 hulls built of the 471s, and the Ocean Class version of these catamarans were built from 2003 to 2007. One of the reasons that these boats are still so popular is that they were built to last. These cats were built using two outer hull molds along with one deck mold, ensuring a seamless and durable design. The boat’s daggerboard trunks have been meticulously engineered to be seven times stronger than the daggerboards themselves. All structural bulkheads are constructed with Nidacore honeycomb core, reinforced with carbon fiber on both sides, delivering a robust framework that enhances the boat’s overall integrity and performance. The adjustable daggerboards allow for versatility in various sailing conditions with a minimum draft of 1.25 m to a maximum of 2.50 m.

Not only are these vessels built to last, they are designed for both comfort and performance. S/V Amazing is the popular owners’ version, featuring a spacious owner’s cabin in the starboard hull with a new mattress, and the head includes a sink, marine toilet and a large shower with new taps and accessories. In the port hull there are two additional double cabins, each with comfortable new mattresses, and the forward cabin also has a head with toilet and shower with new taps and accessories. The interior brightwork throughout has been kept in immaculate condition. The salon has an enormous u-shaped settee with new upholstery. The galley is fully equipped. There is a water maker to keep the water tanks full. For comfort there are fans in all cabins.

S/V Amazing is powered by twin Volvo Penta engines, offering reliable power with low operating hours. The sail drive was replaced in 2022. The sail inventory is in good condition and the mast and rigging have been modernized, with standing and running rigging replaced in 2018. There are multiple winches, including an electric winch with remote control for easy sail management.

Over the years S/V Amazing has been well maintained and upgraded. There are a number of modern electronics on board, including updated navigation and communication equipment, radar, autopilot, NMEA connectivity, AIS, VHF and satellite communications.

S/V Amazing has been outfitted to go cruising with updated power systems and equipment, including solar panels, lithium service batteries with a battery management system, alternators, converters and MPPT regulators. There is also a diesel generator. The vessel is sold with a tender and outboard engine, and it carries appropriate ground tackle with an electric windlass and additional anchors and lines.

The current owners have made many upgrades, including antifouling, replacement of the windlass mounting, new cushions and canvas, new teak on the boat skirts and transoms, a rigid bimini with removable side sunscreens, a swim ladder, and a hot and cold-water deck shower. There is comprehensive safety gear including an EPIRB, a life raft, lifejackets and multiple bilge pumps.
