MAST:
The main spar is constructed to a deck stepped cutter configuration
and is radio rigged with two sets of side shrouds. The spar is manufactured
by Lorimar from carbon fiber to a monolithic and autoclaved process and is
finished in a white two part paint system. There is taper towards the head.
The forestay and two cap shrouds are attached to the mast at this
point. The forestay is attached via a single stainless lug on the nose of the
section. The cap shrouds are attached via a single bolt across the section.
The headsail sheave is a cassette type box. The spinnaker halyard is a 2:1
halyard with the dead end lashed to a pad eye and passing into the mast
via a Harken block fixed to a pad eye on the front of the section and then
to the mast via a cassette sheave box.
Just below the hounds are two lights directed upwards in a moulded pod
on each side of the section. The mast height above water is 110’ including
antenna.
Inner Forestay and Lowers
The inner forestay and lower shrouds are located just above half way
between the heel and hounds. The inner forestay is attached via a single
lug and the lowers are again attached by a single bolt across the section.
There are two separate cassette sheaves under the inner forestay tang
one for the staysail halyard and the other is a spare.
Lower Panel
The halyards exit the mast on either side of the mast, moving halyards
through roller exits and static halyards through slot exits. The staysail
and Genoa halyard exit onto short tracks with pin stop cars. There are
well positioned and sized jammers for stowage of the various lines.
Stout alloy steps are fixed to the front and side of the mast to help with
working aloft. In addition, there are additional folding steps to help with
reefing the mainsail. The reefing pad eyes have snap shackles attached
to them. The main Goose neck is of an integral carbon design laminated
to the section. The main tube sits on an alloy heel plate. The step itself
provides fixing for the foot turning blocks at the base of the mast.
Mainsail Track.
This is by Antal and is fitted on the aft face of the spar on a flat just wider
than the track itself. There is a rubber end stop at top and bottom. The track
is in several pieces and butt jointed together with internal alloy pegs. There
is a removable gate to allow the cars to be fitted. The headboard consists of
two cars linked by an alloy crane. The head board car is held to this crane
with a pin and the main halyard block attaches to the head board car with a
single pin.
BOOM:
The boom is a park avenue carbon fiber structure. It has provision for 3
reef lines and an outhaul. Boom is 31’ long.
