The hull, deck, bulkheads, and sub-sole are vacuumed bagged utilizing a varying lamination schedule of biaxial, triaxial, and unidirectional cloth, cored with Core Cell (hull and deck) and Nida Core honeycomb coring (bulkheads, sub-sole) and laminated with vinylester and isophthalic resins. Wetted surfaces below the waterline are solid GRP construction with vinylester resin and above the waterline in the hull and deck isopthalic resin is used. In the areas of the thru-hulls, chainplates and deck hardware the construction is solid GRP. All deck hardware is thru-bolted with aluminum backing plates laminated into the respective location. Kevlar is used to reinforce the bow and keel areas. Thru-hull fitting and sea cocks are non-corrosive Marelon. The hull-to-deck marriage is done with 3M 5200 marine adhesive and then reinforced with 360-degree unidirectional laminates inside the hull/deck bond for additional structural integrity and stiffness and to create a monocoque structure.
The Manta 42 uses stub keels, not daggerboards, and the fin sections are integral to the hull and give the boat a draft of just 3'8". Twin rudders are made with high-density foam with a fiberglass covering. The rudderstocks are solid 2-inch stainless steel.
The cabin entry door from the cockpit is more like a watertight hatch than a sliding patio door.
The fractional sail plan includes a full-batten mainsail and a small self-tacking jib. The Camber Spar helps maintain jib shape. For Deep reaching and running, the furling spinnaker (screecher) includes a Kevlar luff that it furls around on a Facnor furler.

Manta sailing catamarans have a unique sailing rig. A mainsail used in conjunction with a boom vang and boom brake allows for deeper reaches and the camber spare boom that is attached to the foot of the self tacking jib, makes for easy short handed sailing.
Grace Anne has had the same owners since she was ordered new in 2001 and has been well taken care of. The Manta 42 is well respected among cruisers as a capable and practical long-range cruising yacht. Built-in Sarasota, Florida to very high standards, she is safe, comfortable, and fast. Built-in safety features include the laminated hull-to-deck joint and collision bulkheads creating watertight compartments at the ends of each hull. Several Manta 42's have completed circumnavigations and Manta enjoys one of the highest percentages of live aboard owners of any production boat.
