WILD WIND III

Layout & Accommodations

The Prout QUASAR 50 has weathered numerous storms all over the world in safety and comparative comfort. She has an impressive performance both to windward and downwind, with speeds in excess of 15 knots quite commonplace. She has the well-proven, Prout, low-aspect keels giving excellent lateral resistance making her windward performance exceptional, but still keeping the advantage of shallow draught. (only three feet), which opens up large areas of cruising not possible or safe in deep draught yachts.
There is a spacious and well-designed cockpit with facilities for eating out without disturbing the working of the ship, with plenty of locker space for all those necessary ropes, fenders, etc. There is plenty of uncluttered deck space for working the vessel with ease, or for just lounging around in the sun, or even sleeping out in tropical climates.
Construction
The strength, essential in a catamaran design, is achieved by the hull and deck mouldings bonded together and the bulkhead locations at strategic positions forming deep box sections.
Hull
There are reinforced stress points in the hulls and bridgedeck.
Deck
The deck moulding is reinforced with balsa sandwich to give stiffness where required. It is also reinforced at the chainplates and other areas which carry fittings.
Interior
The interior furniture is bonded to the hull to give extra strength and rigidity.
Decks
Down below, the Prout Quasar 50 has been designed from experience for live-aboard cruising and is constructed to the highest British boat building standards using the finest materials throughout.
Finished in teak, beautifully trimmed and insulated.
The saloon is massive and measures some 14ft. by 14ft., with comfortable dining and seating area for at least 8-9 people.
The galley is situated for ease of catering both in the harbour and in the worst conditions at sea, and has tremendous stowage facilities.
Accommodation is in four spacious double state rooms, each superbly appointed for long-term accommodation in comfort with 3 heads/shower. The starboard forward area can be a crews cabin or workshop area. Engines,- one in each hull, makes for quite exceptional maneuverability.
