In the mid 1980's, catamarans began attracting the attention of sailing enthusiasts who were looking for more amenities and larger, more comfortable cruising accommodations. What they found was not only more space, luxury and sailing without heeling, but shallower draft which allowed them entry into a world of anchorage's that deeper draft monohulls were no able to enter … … and a lot more speed.

Where can I charter?
We operate our own charter bases in Tortola, St Martin and Florida and operate satellite bases in Martinique, Guadeloupe & St. Martin. Our full service broker can offer you catamarans in other exotic locations such seaas the Bahamas, Belize, Seychelles, South Pacific, the Mediterranean and more! Transfers can be arranged at whatever location you choose, speak to your charter agent for details.

How do I choose the best catamaran for my needs?
palmThis part is the most fun! You can choose from a large variety of models & sizes to suit your taste. Usually, it will depend on the number of people in your party. Other factors that may influence your decision whether you want your cat to have a head and shower for each cabin, whether you prefer the galley to be “up” in the salon, or “down” in one of the hulls along with many other options. Our knowledgeable charter consultants will help you every step of the way to sort through all of these choices and help you obtain the best cat for your vacation.

Am I qualified to "skipper" a cat?
This is the most frequently asked question we hear each day. There is adriving very simple answer. If you can handle a monohull sailboat, chances are you'll have no problem handling a cat. We make it even easier for you to familiarize yourself for the first time with catamaran sailing covering jibing, tacking, anchoring and general catamaran sailing. CatCheck is provided at no cost for the qualified sailor. Before beginning your bareboat charter, a yacht familiarization and chart briefing will be conducted at the base. All your questions will be answered. If it requires some extra time before you feel completely comfortable, a captain can be assigned to you until you feel you are ready to skipper the boat on your own. Your charter consultant will discuss your qualifications during the booking process.

How much sailing time do I have?
The Catamaran Company provides you as much sailing time as possible. We also allow you to start any day of the week, to cater to your schedule. In the BVI's, Florida and Belizé, your charter will start at noon on any given day and end the following week on that same day at noon. In St. Martin, Guadeloupe and Martinique, your charter will start at 6:00PM and end the following week on that same day at noon.

What Charter details should I be aware of?
You invest a lot of time and money in your charter vacation. That's why we are pleased to offer our Trip Protection Program. This special coverage protects your investment both prior to and during your charter vacation. This protection program covers cancellations, postponementsrocks and charter interruptions. The premium for this "safety net" is only 6% (7% during hurricane season) of the total charter cost. Without this coverage, the following cancellation terms apply:
