Fountaine
Pajot launches into the PowerCat market with the introduction
of the new Maryland 37 Trawler Catamaran. Introduced at the
Paris Boat Show in January '98, the new Maryland 37 represents
the state of the art in trawler catamarans.
This
new generation of trawler has an astounding 1,000 mile range
at 9 knots. Couple this incredible efficiency with an enormous
amount of interior volume and the stability of a catamaran and
you have the trawler owners dream come true. Her widely spaced
engines give her outstanding maneuverability in tight quarters
and she has an enormous salon and cockpit.
It is no surprise that Fountaine Pajot, one of the industry
leaders in sailing catamaran production, has decided to penetrate
the trawler market. The many advantages that catamarans have
over monohulls have finally convinced many to welcome the concept
and trawlers are a natural extension of the sailing catamaran.
The
Maryland 37 is capable of speeds up to 15 knots. At this speed
she is as much as 40% more efficient than a monohull with similar
living accommodations. Even at this high speed, the hulls glide
through the waves, greatly reducing pounding onto an oncoming
sea. At speeds of about 10 knots, she is 20% more efficient
than a similar monohull and has much more stability. The Maryland
37 is the first in a line of trawler catamarans to be designed
and produced by Fountaine Pajot.
