Essentially, marine surveyors and sea-trials provide the design and engineering expertise to advise you on the caliber of boat you're getting. What better way to avoid disappointments and major warranty problems than having a new or used yacht fully checked out by an expert surveyor.
Marine survey inspections include such items as structural integrity, out of water inspection, sea-trial, electrical systems, propulsion systems, fuel systems, machinery, navigation, all on-board systems, cosmetic appearance, electronics, and overall operation. The following list of surveyors are recommendations for the prospective buyer should he purchase a new or used vessel, and are not directly affiliated with The Catamaran Company.
TIP: Why should you have the vessel surveyed? Most insurance companies and banks will require them on older vessels. They will need to know her condition and fair market value in order to finance and/or underwrite the vessel. Knowing her condition and fair market value before you purchase is also important. However, the most important reason to survey your vessel is for the safety of the passengers and crew.
