June 17, 2011 (Annapolis, MD): SailTime, the world's largest boat membership company is extending its offering to the catamaran market by partnering with Gemini Catamarans.
Being the first to offer catamarans for shared access, in August SailTime will place a 34ft Gemini 105 catamaran in to its fleet to sail the Chesapeake Bay. The company has a goal to introduce a further 9 boats across its bases in North America over the rest of 2011 and into 2012.
The new Gemini 105Mc's has an expansive interior designed by Hunter Marine, with sleeping room for up to eight, a double-sided work surface in the galley with a front-loading 4 cubic foot refrigerator, and a beautiful master cabin with roomy head and separate shower.
Todd Hess CEO of SailTime Group said 'This is a great opportunity for us to be the first boat membership company to offer multihulls. We have been watching the Catamaran market with great interest and we recognize this is a large and progressive market. We're extending our offering to catamaran sailors so they too can enjoy the benefits of our fractional share membership program.
Partnering with Gemini Catamarans is a natural fit for us, and we are very excited to be working with them. They produce great quality boats that will be a perfect fit for our customers.'
Laura Hershfeld President of Gemini Catamarans said 'We are delighted to be the exclusive provider of catamarans to SailTime and their members and look forward to working hand in hand with them for many year to come in expanding their locations, product and membership. SailTime are the worldwide leaders in their market and Gemini is the most successful 34 ft catamaran ever built so this is a perfect match for both companies'.
In 2001 George Bonelli, of Austin, Texas, set up the first ever SailTime base on Lake Travis. His mission was to make sailing more affordable and therefore more available. SailTime is the worldwide leader in fractional boating memberships, which were pioneered by SailTime. These memberships put novice and experienced boaters on the water for a fraction of the cost of ownership, maintenance, and upkeep, providing an economical alternative to boat ownership.
SailTime allows its members to share the use of a professionally managed boat through the use of an online scheduling system. Members can sail a new, fully maintained yacht at least six weeks each year with a monthly membership fee that covers the slip fees, maintenance, insurance and operating costs. SailTime also offers a generous Owner Member Program where the owner receives a monthly income, as well as the benefits of membership. Regionally franchised bases are operated by base owner/managers.
Since 2001 the company has grown to over 30 bases in North America and Canada. In 2004 SailTime branched out to Europe, with 14 bases across the UK, France, Italy and Turkey. The company has now opened a base in Puerto Rico and 4 bases in Australia. A base will soon open in New Zealand.
A unique feature of the program, which is a tremendous benefit to its members, is SailTime®
PLUS, where members can take advantage of up to seven days of sailing at base locations around the world. A simple pricing plan is in place for the Plus program and is significantly lower than the cost of barecharter or sailing club fees. Included in these destination areas are Miami, FL; New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Sydney, Australia; Cote d'Azur, France and Puerto Rico.
"One important and significant advantage that SailTime has over anyone in the industry, and that includes charter companies, is the depth and breadth of the base network. No one else can compare with close to 50 locations across the globe. This asset translates into significant value to our members. Our members have access to boats in spectacular places across eight countries and three continents." said George Bonelli, Chairman and Founder of SailTime
