Assisting as the check-in boat at the start of the Governor’s Cup, the Chesapeake Bay’s largest race, the Catamaran Company has again supplied a team and Yacht to serve at the beginning of this popular overnight race.
For three years our Annapolis Office has served as one of the two committee boats for this event.
The Lagoon 420 has proven to be the preferred platform for this duty, because of her ability to anchor comfortably in deep water and higher seas, while providing an extremely comfortable platform for the dual check-in teams to record more than 130 racers starting within a one hour period. The all around visibility enables one to spot vessels from every direction, with her stability enhancing the use of binoculars. Its great fun to relax on the starting line hearing the boat-to-boat chatter, seeing the very colorful teams, and all the close calls, while enjoying a cool beverage. Another example of the versatility of the Lagoon 420, this might be compared to anchoring over a remote dive spot, where she makes an ideal dive platform.
