The next generation Antares 44i is here, and it’s built for true liveaboard comfort. Expanding on the success of their 44-foot sailing catamaran, Antares Yachts have taken the design to a new level of all-weather comfort.

Already established as one of the only true “owner-version” catamarans of its size offering hand-crafted interiors using state of the art materials, the Antares 44i isn’t crammed with beds and heads typically found on charter cats. But besides the luxurious accommodations inside, it will keep you warm and dry when it’s cold and wet outside. From the get-go the Antares was designed to accommodate a permanent hardtop with a removable canvas enclosure. This enclosure creates a separate living area for cold weather conditions, and provides a protected helm position. The design of the Antares’ enclosure coordinates the hardtop to the deck and doesn’t get in the way when moving around the deck. The next generation Antares takes this design one step further by replacing the Lexan dodger with the addition of a glass windshield with wipers.

Whether you’re planning coastal cruising, the hopping or extensive blue water cruising, island hopping or extensive blue water cruising, the Antares 44i has a great helm design for all-weather cruising. No other cruising catamaran has a standard 12” chart plotter, let alone two of them. The Antares 4i has a great helm design for all-weather cruising. No other cruising catamaran has a standard 12” chart plotter, let alone two of them. The Antares 44i also offers a complete engine instrumentation panel at the helm. These additions to the standard equipment list were inspired by current customers who cruise extensively aboard their Antares 44i.

Several innovative systems make the Antares 44i a terrific cruising catamaran. One is the line management system. All lines lead down the mast through a glassed-in raceway to standard electric winches in the cockpit. The sheets and reefing lines lead to the electric winch at the helm and the halyards lead to the aft winch pedestal. Another innovation is the Antares exclusive MainTamer that allows easy handling of the mainsail without compromising proper sail shape. This sail gathering system is specifically designed for the Antares 44i and is an add-on to the existing boom. An integrated sail cover also makes it easy to zip the cover on and off without a big struggle.

The Antares 44i is equipped with a standard stowable bowsprit on the front crossbeam that supports a furling screecher and puts the sail in better air by pushing it away from the mainsail. The furling screecher system also gives you the ability to keep the self-tacking jib in position and reduce sail area without having to leave the cockpit. These design elements, combined with features like a galley big enough to call a kitchen and inside space you can really live in, make the Antares a true luxury liveaboard catamaran.
