The hybrid 420 design from Lagoon is a bold statement about the future of sailboat auxiliary propulsion. A generator situated in a dedicated compartment supplies most electrical needs – both propulsion and DC house and 110 V Ac for Air Conditioning and household appliances. No diesels are under the aft beds. When motoring, the sensation of silent power is striking, and acceleration is instant. Under on 8-kilowat motor, the Lagoon 420 quickly reaches six knots and the only sound comes from the swirl of the prop.

Apart from the clean technology, the 420 is classic representation of the Lagoon brand. Featuring a Gullwing bridgedeck and deckhouse with vertical windows enclosing a relaxed, well-lit lounge/dining area and galley. The 240 sq. ft. saloon also has a forward facing Nav station which functions as a second inside watchkeeping/steering station. Hull #7 is a luxurious owner's version offering three double cabins and three heads - all on a boat less than 42 feet!

The cockpit design emphasizes the fact that this vessel can easily be handled by a small crew. All sail controls - halyards, sheets and reefing lines are lead to the helm, which is elevated on its own platform at the starboard side of the deckhouse bulkhead. To port, you will find U-shaped bench seating surrounding a table perfect for dining al fresco. The entire area screams entertainment, and lies under the shelter of a rigid roof, supported by four stainless steel columns.

The benefits to the global environment that are achieved by the use of hybrid diesel-electric propulsion are manifested during the working life of the boat, which can be many years. These benefits are also most directly felt in the sensitive and very beautiful environments in which such a yacht is used, by a careful and caring owner and crew. This yacht of the future is available today; one of only two available at '07 pricing.
