LAGOON TAKES PRIDE OF PLACE IN THE 'ARC'

Prizes, fun, laughs and above all - great memories!

Every year the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) brings together over 150 yachts from all over the world in what is regarded as the largest transocean sailing event in the world. The race begins in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and ends in Rodney Bay in St. Lucia. This is roughly a 2,700 nautical mile passage on the N.E. tradewind route and takes an average between 12 and 24 days.

Lagoons are known and reputed for their comfort at sea, their large living space, their innovative design.. yet not so much for their performance.

During their participation in the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers), Lagoon was given the opportunity to remedy that image by leading the catamaran class in the ARC.

The Lagoon 570 "Dada V" was the first over the finish line of the ARC in the multihull class of 21 competitors. "Dada V" was the 17th of the 212 boats of all categories taking part in the rally to arrive after 17 days, 6 hours, 6 minutes and 40 seconds of navigation. This is a brilliant result considering the difficult weather conditions.

In corrected time, the Lagoon 55 "Alkedo" finished 3rd and won the Lagoon trophy.

Other Lagoon Performances

Two Lagoon 410-S2 models and one Lagoon 380 were amongst the first 10 boats in corrected time.

The ARC In A Few Lines

The boats left Las Palmas on Grande Canaria on the 13th of November last, to sail to Rodney Bay on Saint Lucia. The ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) is the longest transatlantic rally and probably the safest and most enjoyable means of crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

Open to any monohull from 27 ft (8.23 m) to 85 ft (25.91 m) in length and to multihulls from 27 ft (8.23 m) to 60 ft (18.29 m) with a minimum crew of two people. Some 250 crafts took part in the ARC this year.

The fleet included 21 multihulls amongst which Lagoon had the largest representation with eight boats from 38' to 57'.

For the first time, Lagoon was, alongside Bénéteau et Jeanneau, a partner in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers.
