Located at the beautiful West End of Tortola, Soper's Hole is a natural deep water anchorage, situated between the main island of Tortola and Frenchman's Cay.

Entry into the anchorage is straight forward, just stay clear of the rocks off Steele Point, also the reef off the southern edge of Frenchman's Cay and avoid the ferries coming and going to the West End ferry dock. The main part of the inlet is deep, so take one of the many mooring balls in the area. If you must anchor, then the best spots are to the top end of the inlet in shallower water, directly off the small beach where the hurricane wrecked tugboat ?Carpeake? lies half buried in the sand. Certain wind directions can cause a funnelling affect through the area, which results in periodic gusts of air to help cool you down. Just remember to use clothes pegs to secure your towels, or they may not be there when you return!

There are a variety of shops, provisioning stores and restaurants/bars within Soper's Hole, most notably at Frenchman's Cay, where there is a Pusser's outlet, Rite Way supermarket and numerous small boutiques and gift stores. Behind Pusser's there is also a delightful restaurant called Pisces, that serves good affordable food and a coffee shop called the Blue Parrot Café. Within a short walking distance there are other small convenience stores.

On the Tortola side of the inlet is one of the two main ferry docks on the island, with ferries to Road Town, Jost Van Dyke, St John (USVI) and St Thomas (USVI.) Also located in the same area is the Jolly Roger Restaurant and Bar, a lively nightspot, often with live music and always with good food. There is also a rental car outlet beside the Jolly Roger, should you wish to tour Tortola by road.

Many guests use Soper's Hole as their preferred anchorage for when there is a full moon party going on at Bomba's Surf Shack. It is a simple and fairly short taxi ride over Zion Hill to Bomba's shack, for the monthly shenanigan's that go along with partying by moonlight.
