The boats that we book in the Abaco’s are on the quaint island of Hope Town, a pleasant 20-minute ferry ride directly to the charter base. The Abaco’s are easy to get to with flights out of major airports such as Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. The flights from these airports to Marsh Harbor are approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

About Abaco

Unlike other tourist magnets, Abaco is off the beaten tourist track and is still largely unspoiled. With isolated beaches, uninhabited cays and miles of water with few boats in sight you will think that you have died and gone to heaven. There are great harbors with quaint houses and small but well-stocked stores so that you can get all the provisions you need for your sailing vacation in paradise. Many well kept restaurants and bars are tucked in most cays throughout the chain.

Beaches and Snorkeling

Here in the Abaco’s we have found that our clients fall in love as they sometimes find a beach that is their own for the week with no one else to bother them. With the shallow Sea of Abaco and the reefs, cays and coves that bound it, some of the best sailing and snorkeling is to be had here. Not to mention that with the shallow draft of the cats, you will not be restricted on where you can go as if you were on a mono-hull. To protect the marine environment, spear fishing using scuba gear and possession of spear guns are illegal in the Bahamas. Star fish, sea turtles, tropical fish, dolphin, barracuda, rays and many others are yours for the viewing in this underwater sea of beauty.

Weather

Trade winds do blow almost continually throughout the Bahamas. These trades give the Abacos a warm stable climate that doesn’t vary much throughout the year. The average temperature is around 77 degrees, a little warmer in the summer and a little cooler in the winter. It cools down at nights to about 70 in the summer and 60 in the winter to allow for a good nights sleep. Bring your sun tan lotion!

Facilities

The best thing about the Abacos is that even with all its remoteness, all services are present. From a full service marina with showers, fuel, water, ice restaurants and shops in Hope Town to supermarkets in Marsh Harbor, anything you need is readily available. As for entertainment, you will find that from cay to cay you will have numerous outside island bars to stop in for a cool drink.
