A large anchroage with deep water mainly. In fact, the centre of the Bay shows 15 fathoms (90 feet) and shelves towards the edges, with 2 fathoms 2 feet (14 feet) just inside Great Harbour Point. Most vessels anchor on the northern side of the Bay, as it is shallow enough here. Many vessels anchor close in, in the east corner, off the sandy beach behind Peter Island Resort. Beware fouling your anchor on fish pots in this area.
There are also moorings in the west side of Great Harbour, just off the currently closed beach bar. This bar used to be part of the now closed Prospect Reef Resort in Road Town and if utilising these moorings, please make sure the mooring appears maintained before trusting it.
