Knotty Dreams owners Jay and Teresa

Jay & Teresa, owners

We both love the sun and the water. That’s what led us to the warm, sparkling, turquoise waters of the British Virgin Islands and owning our own sailboat. We wanted a boat that is as enjoyable to sail and for relaxing at anchor in the morning and evening. This breathtaking catamaran is the beginning of our lifelong dream and we’re not looking "aft"!

Jay's story...

My love of sailing started with a love of the water and the freedom that comes from traveling with the wind. Many years ago I was living on a lake, and though I had never been on a sailboat, decided to buy a boat and teach myself how to sail so I could experience it myself. Like others who sail, there was always more to learn, a “bigger boat”, a larger body of water, and new dreams to live. Over the years I have chartered many boats, in many different places, and taken many people sailing. All have said it was a dream vacation, providing lifelong memories. I have also taught a number of people to sail ….who are now living their own sailing dreams. Throughout these adventures I have learned what makes a great sailing trip are the people, the boat, and the sailing location. My first trip to the BVIs was 30 years ago and the sailing experience has only gotten better. There is simply nothing quite like its "mast appeal".

Teresa’s story...

My love of sailing actually came as quite a surprise to me. Vacationing in Florida, I would see these little triangles bobbing gently on the horizon but never did I think that someday that would be me sailing one. Upon meeting Jay, we vacationed in the Bahamas and went sailing on a Hobie Cat. I just loved it so much, I didn't want to go back. We went sailing each day. With the sun, the wind, and the blue water, I just couldn't get enough!! Jay tells the story "that's when he knew", I was the one he wanted to spend his life with. I have to admit sailing is one exciting, yet tranquil experience and I can't imagine spending our vacations together doing anything else. Guess you could say "I'm hooked".

Our story...

Living in Cincinnati doesn't offer us the opportunity to sail often, so we relish the time when we can. While we have sailed St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Grenada, Croatia, and off the coasts of Florida and California, our favorite sailing destination is the BVIs. The constant breeze of the trade winds, the blue waters, the protective coves, the stars at night, and the local atmosphere is truly something to experience. One of our most memorable moments is sailing with dolphins. These playful creatures love to swim in front of the boat... which is even better on a catamaran with its two pontoons and space for all the crew to watch. We are now both certified through the American Sailing Association to skipper charter boats and the experience has only enhanced our shared dreams.

Our Boat Story...

Through our experiences we have developed a list of likes and dislikes for a charter boat. We have been looking for a boat for a number of years and believe the newly designed Lagoon 450 provides many features to enhance the overall sailing vacation experience. Knotty Dreams II can be sailed by a couple for a romantic getaway, while having enough space for a big group to party in the islands ...with seating areas fore, aft, and on the flybridge. We have equipped Knotty Dreams II with features such as GPS, power winches, air conditioning, sun cushions, and water toys that are not found on other boats. We have installed a gas grill, a major upgrade versus the small charcoal grill that other charter companies put on their boats. Even if you don’t know how to sail, you can arrange for a skipper for an unforgettable week in the BVIs.

So if a "dream" sailing vacation is based on a great boat, a great place to sail, and a great crew, we believe Knotty Dreams II and the BVIs will help make your dreams come true. The decision on who to sail with... that's up to you!

We trust your memorable excursion on Knotty Dreams II will leave you and your crew breathless and dreaming for more. Please treat our boat as your boat and take care of it as we would so others can live their dreams for years to come.

We look forward to hearing your stories about life aboard Knotty Dreams II!

Lagoon 450 Interior Features

The salon area on the Knotty Dreams II is spacious and elegant. Designed by Nauta, the interior salon has wrap around windows to provide 360 degree panoramic views to enjoy every minute of the BVIs. Both the door and window beside the galley push back to open up the space even more so you can feel island breezes while in the salon. The wide opening makes it easy to serve your crew while they're relaxing in the aft salon. The light wood and the sunlight through all the windows makes you forget about those dark and dingy monohauls you might have sailed!

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need with which to cook, including a microwave for warming leftovers from the wonderful dinner you enjoyed ashore last night or heating water for a cup of tea in the morning. It also has one of the most essential pieces of equipment for a great sailing vacation – a blender for those island drink specials!

You can choose to eat in the aft salon or inside. Both seating areas have a large table for you and your guests.

Knotty Dreams II has 4 large double cabins, fore and aft in each pontoon. These cabins each have an ensuite vanity, head, and shower for privacy for each couple. If you have a larger group, kids, or a need for a captain and/or chef, Knotty Dreams II has additional sleeping options. There are single berths forward in each pontoon. Additionally, the table in the main salon converts into a double bed. So a total of 12 can sleep comfortably aboard Knotty Dreams II.

A little warm in the BVIs? No worries! Knotty Dreams II has air conditioning. The generator that powers the air conditioner also provides electricity throughout the boat to power up your electrical devices so you can stay connected and share your experiences.

We trust you will find everything on Knotty Dreams II to make this a dream vacation!

Lagoon 450 Catamaran Exterior & Sailing Performance

The aft saloon provides plenty of shade from the sun, has a two person lounger, and a refrigerator so cold drinks are only a short reach away. The special LED lighting at night puts the accent on a great day of sailing!

Up front at the forepeaks of each pontoon are seats for those who want to ride the waves. There is a cushioned seating area on the foredeck for socializing and watching the stars at night.

A swim ladder at the transom provides easy access to the boat, while a shower hose is there to wash off the salt and the sand. The cutaway sides on the aft of the pontoons make it easy to get in and out of the dinghy, while raising the dinghy on the davits is made easy with a power winch.
